What changes the price around Coaldale and Taber
Tear-off is the biggest variable: an old shake roof, or two layers of asphalt, has to come off first, and that labour is part of the price. On a farm, each outbuilding is measured and priced as its own roof, and snow guards over doors and decks are their own line.

What comes off, and the structure underneath
Cedar, concrete tile and natural slate always come off; a single layer of asphalt can be roofed over only if the inspection finds it suitable. Deck and structural repairs go into the written quote, not a change order.
Profile and options
Slate, Cedar Shingle, Shake and Mediterranean Tile are priced differently. The Class A fire-rated assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood), snow guards and gutters are line items.
Access
Tight inner-city infill lots, steep driveways, condo and townhouse complexes, acreages at the end of a gravel road and mountain homes change the logistics, and we plan them at the estimate.

Aluminum costs more than steel or asphalt up front. The fair comparison is over the years you'll own the home: an asphalt roof lasts about 20 years on published averages, less when hail finds it, and is torn off and replaced, while an Interlock roof is built to be the last one. Will a metal roof lower my home insurance?
Ask your insurer. Some insurers in Alberta take impact-resistant roofing into account and some don't, and terms differ from policy to policy. We don't promise a discount, and no roofer should.
Why is aluminum more expensive than steel?
